Naples, Pompeii and Capri

from rome we headed south to Naples. Let me tell you that the food in Italy all smells so good! the pizza and pasta we have had so far was nice, but the Pizza we has last night in Naples was AMAZING!!! you all need to get over here and try it for yourselves!

From Naples we did a day trip out to Pompeii. Walked around the ruins for many hours.

Ruins continued...

And again..

During our stay Naples' soccer team won a match that got them put up into the top league, or something like that. Anyway there was a huge celebration, with flares and fireworks and cars and vespas driving on the footpaths...sean got involved!

The party continues!

Our second day trip was to Capri. We caught the ferry over and spent the day walking all over the island.
It was a gret day and a very beautiful place.

The view from the top!

One of the beaches. the waster is much warmer down here! We are certainly looking forward to the Greek islands too.
Next stop Venice.

Rome

From Florence to Rome. We stayed at yet another campsite. This one only 10 euro each a night. We stayed 6 nights in Rome.
On our first day we walked from the Spanish steps to the Colosseum, covering a lot of ground and seeing a lot of amazing buildings and ruins. this one was Trevi Fountain.

The Pantheon.

We accidentally got into the Colosseum for free. Which was nice.

Another Colosseum photo.

The Roman Forum.

We lined up for about 5 minutes to get into St. Peters Basillica.

St. Peters from the outside...

and the following day lined up for 3 hours to get into the vactican Museums to see the Sistine Chapel. Didn't manage to get in here for free though.

Day trips from Florence

While in Florence we did two day trips. One to Pisa to see the Leaning tower...Of course we had to do the photos...

Our second day trip was to the south of tuscany, to Greve in Chianti. It is a wine region, but the day we were there it was a public holiday. lovely spot to visit though.

We walked out to a few wineries and sampled some of the regional wine.

More views of Greve.

sean took a liking to these mini-buses, they seat about 10 people max.
