Amsterdam - May 2008

A group of 6 of us travelled over to Amsterdam for our friend Simons 30th Birthday, over the first long weekend in May.
We started with a bit of culture. Visiting Anne Franks House.

Did a walking tour, passing the canals and major sites of the City centre.

We then wandered through the Red Light District, and past the 'coffee shops'

Red Light District
We headed out for dinner for Simon's 30th. Italian, which was very nice. He seemed to have issues with his beer.

Our second night in town we decided to go on a pub crawl. This photo is at the first of six pubs. Jason, Simon, Sarah and Sean.

The drinks were flowing and it wasn't long...

until the dancing and singing up on the stage started! A great night was had by all.

The following (and final day of our trip) Sean and I headed a little way out of Amsterdam to do some shoe shopping.
Think this one might be a little too big for Sean. Quite comfy though, he tells me!

Our day was actually spent at Keukenhoff, a massive flower show (not unlike Floriade in Canberra). They say that 6million bulbs are planted by hand every year!

The area was so beautiful. I couldnt stop taking photos. I actually took photos until my battery ran out!
The colours were amazing. Every colour combination you could imagine.

Easter in London

Bob and Dot were in London with us this year for Easter. We acted as tour guides a couple of days. It was lovely walking around London at night, the main sights look so different. London Eye.

The day before Good Friday it was 18c, lovely and warm. Everyone was happy and wearing t-shirts, etc. Easter Sunday it was snowing! I took this from our bedroom window (as it was too cold to go outside!) looking at our back yard. Never had snow at Easter before!

Feb 08 - Canada/USA Part 3 (San Francisco)

California Plates. I thought it would be a good title piece for the San Fran section of our photos and videos.

While we were in San Fran we stayed with Devin and Christine in their new apartment in down town San Fran. Thanks very much for the hospitality guys and it was fantastic to see you both! This photo was on the top of their building in little bungalow things with a couple of Paulaner beers (mmm, takes us back to Oktoberfest). It also had a fantastic view of the San Francisco city area.

Alcatraz, on the way in on the boat. We were amazed to find out the different uses of the island other than just the Prison that we though it was famous for. It was used as a military fort to protect the Bay area, then the prison that no one was known to have escaped from and then it was taken over as an Indian reservation (in protest of the treatment of native American Indians) in the the 1970's which lasted for 4.
Shannon and I infront of one of the Cells.
How could I miss out on getting a shot in front of this! To my disappointment it was too early to go inside.

The Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunatley the weather interupted our view. Never the less it was very spectacular and so big.
Shannon and Christine in front of the Painted Ladies! Wonderful colours.

This is more like it! The day after the last shot, we got a better shot of the Golden Gate Bridge. I think its better because I'm in it. Jk

View of San Fran, from the top of the bendiest street in the world (Lombard Street)

Lombard Street from the bottom.

Feb 08 - Canada/USA Part 2

Snow covered Trees at the top of Silverstar Mountain. Our Coldest day there was only -11c (it had been -20c the week before we arrived). Most days it was about -2c.

We went to see the Vernon Vipers play on Valentines Day. It was the league down from the Canadian League but still very impressive. A bargin for only $6 canadian each. The Vipers came out on top 5-1 and it was very entertaining sitting behind a group of Aussie fans that work up the mountain.
Ryan, Dorothy, Bob and me in Silverstar Village at the start of the day.
Me in some Powder, lovely and soft. Like floating on air when your riding.
Frontside 180 off a little lip.
Similar, 180 spinning.

The landing. Look at that flex, not in my arms either.
Shannon, Look at that air, its huge! I think she suffered jet lag after this one.In the Park, a little jump. Gliding through the air.

Off the back of the Box. I think I tried a 180 with no luck, but still loads of fun!

Thanks very much to Dorothy and Bob for the trip and it was fantasic to catch up and enjoy Vernon and the Lovely Silverstar snow.
